Language Wonder Lab offers research-informed language support for families, community organizations, and children’s media / creative teams.

  • Our work prioritizes how language lives in real contexts. We collaborate with families seeking clarity around asset-based home language practices, organizations designing language-centered experiences, and creative teams developing content for young audiences and their families.

  • Engagements are relational and reflective. We think alongside you to shape language experiences that feel meaningful, developmentally attuned, and aligned with shared values.

  • Sliding pricing scale for families and reduced rates for organization may be available and offered at our discretion based on capacity and alignment.

Families

We offer three family consulting pathways, each with a specific focus: introspection (introductory), rhythm (strategic), and accompaniment (ongoing). Each pathway is designed to meet families at different stages of their bilingual journey. From a single foundational conversation, to a guided planning experience, to ongoing immersion coaching, we can provide the level of support that feels right to your family.

Thoughtful, non-clinical support for families interested in nurturing children’s multilingual language development. We use practical, relationship-centered, asset-based approaches to multilingualism.

Services

  • Family Language Seeds - Introductory. An orientation for families starting their bilingual journey, who want introspection, perspective, and direction. Includes one 50-minute session, family language landscape, recommendations for practical bilingual routines and resources, and personalized next steps.

  • Family Language Ladder - Strategic. Alignment for families who want a strong bilingual foundation plus support in clarifying and designing a bilingual rhythm that aligns with their everyday life. Includes three 50-minute sessions to guide families in clarifying values and designing a custom family language rhythm.

  • Family Language Circles - Ongoing. Accompaniment for families who want to actively implement, sustain, and adapt to a bilingual life. Includes weekly sessions over a period of 4 to 8 weeks (to be determined during connection call), language environment review, custom bilingual rhythm, and support between sessions for navigating change, resistance, and emotions surrounding language routines. Available only after family language ladder consultation.

Community Organizations

Guidance for ensuring relational, authentic, and meaningful language resources and experiences. We provide consulting services for community organizations such as libraries, bookstores, museums, nonprofits, camps, and afterschool programs, among others.

Services

  • Multilingual Literature Advisory. Includes review of your existing multilingual children’s book collection, assessment of the quality of existing translated texts, curated recommendations by areas of need (e.g. age, language level, translation quality, authenticity, etc), review of website, and staff-facing guidance for text selection.

  • Bilingual Storytime Design. Includes review of current storytime structure, guidance on play-based extensions and multisensory elements, and recommendations for year-long themes and sequences. We prioritize projects that focus on Spanish storytimes.

  • Multilingual Family Engagement. One time consultation. Includes 50-minute session, review of current family programming and communications, and tailored recommendations to nurture genuine resonance with multilingual households and invite meaningful family participation.

  • Language Program Integration. Guidance to integrate immersive environments that weave Spanish with play and STEAM into existing programs. Includes review of current structure and development of tailored language integration framework/plan.

Children’s Media / Creative Teams

We collaborate with creative teams to ensure authentic language use in children’s media. This work may include script review, story consultation, language planning, app development, and/or ongoing advisory support throughout a project, among others. We focus on providing feedback for multilingual storytelling, linguistic integrity, and emotional resonance.
