Our Philosophy
The ideas and research that shape every Saturday at our Spanish Immersion Labs
Language Wonder Lab is a space of possibility, agency, and community. We are inspired by inquiry-based, play-centered and cariño pedagogies that encourage curiosity, imagination, and solidarity alongside language immersion and enrichment.

Our Foundation
-

Inquiry-Based
We use Inquiry-Based Language Learning (IBLL) principles. Spanish is a tool to formulate questions and evaluate the world within and around us.
-

Play-Centered
Play keeps children’s hearts at ease and encourages their agency, creativity, and collaboration.
-

Cariño Pedagogies
In the Spanish language, the term educación means more than schooling. It means raising a person with warmth, dignity, and belonging.
-

Curiosity
Eagerness to learn and notice is a key skill to finding answers and solving problems. We use our metalinguistic awareness to seek and formulate answers to our questions
-

Imagination
Language is a tool to dream possibilities and implement them in the real world.
-

Solidarity
To understand and connect with others children need communicative competence: not only in grammar but also in sociolinguistic skills that aid relationships and repair.
What is Inquiry-Based Language Learning?
Children are born asking “why,” and “how,” and “what's that”? Inquiry-based language learning starts there, with the child's own curiosity, rather than with a list of words to memorize.
You may know inquiry from science or social studies classrooms, where children investigate, predict, and discover; here we bring that same spirit to Spanish.
We believe that we learn by doing and wondering and that language grows best when it's understood and the heart is at ease: never pressured, never tested into silence.
We let children follow a question into the language itself. We lead with curiosity and follow along with Spanish.
